Urgent Dogs M-Z at the shelter NOW PRINGLES A15622714 Hi I’m Pringles, no, not those tasty potato chips, I’m a dog, I’m a dog, silly. I’m an adult terrier/pit mix who weighs about 47 lbs. I have a shiny black and white coat and a really cute face with semi erect ears and a white patch on my nose. I’m sort of a high energy gal and I love to play and jump around. Now, I know this is silly behavior and I need to stop jumping up, so the nice people here are working with me on that. I know I can do better and get the hang of it. I did pretty good on my evaluations, handling, dog meets and cat meets. I did show a little interest in cats, so if you have any at home, I should be re-tested to make sure that we are okay together. I did well on food test despite the fact that I was pretty hungry being a stray from the streets of Philadelphia. Due to my energy level, I probably shouldn't live with small children and I should meet all of your children under 12 years of age, as well as your resident dogs when you come to meet me. Did I tell you that I love toys, well I do, so this is a great tool to train me with. I’m not spayed yet, but I will be before I leave the shelter. Come out and meet me today, please!!... Here are just a few of the many wonderful dogs in urgent need of adoption, foster care, or rescue at Philadelphia's animal control shelter, ACCT. You can stop down and meet them, and after filling out an application with shelter staff, interact with them 365 days a year at the shelter, 111 W. Hunting Park Avenue, in Philadelphia. Come in and take home a forever friend today! They need immediate adoption or foster care. ACCT is located at 111 W Hunting Park Ave and is open 365 days a year. Please check www.ACCTPhilly.org for hours. To check the status of an animal, call 267-385-3800, email nsmith@pspca.org or jsweeney@pspca.org, or send us a message. By: Philly Urgents Page

Pin thin puppy needs a foster home

Hey guys, one of my friends from City Kitties found this emaciated pit bull puppy on the way to work yesterday. She is not quite a year old and terribly, terribly thin. She is very affectionate and joyous and seems to do well with dogs but maybe not so much with cats. They call her Pringles cause she was foraging in an empty chip can when they found her and was so hungry she trash picked all the way to the shelter. Right now she is at ACCT, but desperately needs a foster/forever home. The shelter is over run with dogs, there's no guarantee she'll make it out. This sweet, starving girl deserves so much better than what's she's gotten in her short, unhappy life. She has so much love to give and she's already suffered so much. Please consider fostering/adopting Pringles. I love pit bulls and would do it in a heartbeat but we are a 3 cat household and I'm afraid our finances couldn't support another critter at this time.
Pringles is now at Animal Care & Control (ID# A15622714) City Kitties can pull her from the shelter and the volunteer who found her would contribute to her puppy training classes. Please repost and share, and let's see if we can save this little lovebug

We're going West!

So yesterday Izzy and I, assisted by Maggie, Sammi and Jake, got together a package to send to the Midwest tornado survivors. We were able to finish knitting and send off 3 scarves, 6 baby and toddler hats, a new fleece blanket, hat, sleeper and mittens as well as diapers, baby bottles and sanitary napkins. We hope the clothes bring comfort and warmth and a little bit of hope to the recipients. You are not alone. We wish you and your families deep healing.

Found this inspiring quote and thought I'd share. I'm also posting a list of places where you can go to find legitimate charities.

Mother Teresa once wrote, "the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people, who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways."

Looks like Fat Joey Knitwear will be sending their supplies through Matthew 25 Ministries. Here is a link below to their page.

Also, here is a link to pages that accept donations of handknit goods for people in need. http://www.woolworks.org/charity.html

Toddler found after twister dies in hospital

Oh NO! Terrible to wake up this morning and see this article. That poor, poor little thing. Angel was just 14 months old, the same age as my daughter. I keep thinking about those people in the Midwest, losing everything in a tornado and now they say winter storms are coming? Are you kidding me? Their misery just keeps coming.

We at Fat Joey Knitwear would like to donate some of our new, handknit scarves, baby blankets and hats to the victims of this latest disaster - does anyone know where I would go about sending them? My online searches haven't yielded much - most places accept only cash. I'd send it if I had it....but what I do have to offer are new fleece blankets and newborn baby diapers that Izzy never used... does anyone know of a legitimate church group where I could send these? Thanks everyone. We would love to help. Toddler found after twister dies in hospital

Sunday Morning chuckles

A couple of chuckles for your Sunday morning. Just to show you how out of it I am, I originally wrote Saturday morning on the top of this post. What day is it? Who am I? I used to know these things, before I had the kid. Now I'm really, really lucky if I leave the house for work with my teeth brushed AND wearing pants.
But I digress. The first cartoon with the dog made me actually laugh out loud, not the LOL you type on your friend's Facebook page, I mean really snort in surprise and delight. Heh, heh, heh. I believe I found that on George Takie's FB page. We love you George.

Big Mario's provided the squirrel and frog picture. Well played, Big Mario's. Well played.

You don't have to be an actor to appreciate this last one. Hey, bears fall in love too....

I'd love to sat and chat more with you this morning, but someone is grousing over the baby monitor. We musn't keep Her Majesty waiting! Love and luck to all of you today. Kiss your kids, call your mother, hug your cats.
